Animals in Italian

Animal words are friendly, easy to remember and — because Italian is so phonetic — easy to say correctly. Here are the most common ones.

A useful note

Mind the double consonants — gatto, cavallo and uccello all hold that middle sound a beat longer, which is part of what gives Italian its rhythm. Remember c before e/i is soft: uccello is "oo-CHEL-lo".
