How to describe the weather

Ask with Quel temps fait-il? (What's the weather like?). Most answers use il fait ("it makes"):

FrenchEnglish
Il fait beauIt's nice/sunny
Il fait chaudIt's hot
Il fait froidIt's cold
Il y a du ventIt's windy
Il y a des nuagesIt's cloudy
Il pleutIt's raining
Il neigeIt's snowing

So temperature uses il fait, wind and clouds use il y a ("there is"), and rain and snow have their own verbs (pleuvoir, neiger).
