Months and seasons in Spanish

Months and seasons come up constantly — birthdays, bookings, plans and weather. Several Spanish months look almost identical to English, so you already half-know them.

Two things to remember

  • No capital letters — months are lowercase: Mi cumpleaños es en mayo.
  • Saying dates: use el + number + de + month: el 5 de mayo (the 5th of May). Spanish uses ordinary numbers, not "fifth" — except the 1st, which is often el primero de… in Latin America.

Make them stick by saying them

Months settle in through use. Navoq has you say dates and plans in real Spanish sentences out loud, with pronunciation feedback — so birthdays and bookings come easily.
